How to print your name tracing worksheet
A worksheet is useful only when the downloaded page matches the paper in your printer. Follow these steps after making your preview.
1. Choose the paper you have
Select Letter for 8.5 × 11 inch paper, or A4 for 210 × 297 mm paper. Match the setting in your PDF viewer and printer. A4 and Letter are different sizes; changing only the printer setting can shrink or crop the sheet.
2. Save and open the PDF
Enter a name, choose a practice style, and select Download PDF. Open name-practice.pdf from your browser's downloads. On a phone, use your browser's Downloads or Files app. The worksheet is one page and the lettering is drawn as vectors.
3. Print at actual size
Choose Actual size or 100% rather than Fit to page. The worksheet includes margins, but printer settings differ. Check the print preview for clipping and print one sheet before making copies.
Choose a comfortable amount of practice
Two tracing rows leave a shorter practice task. Four or six give more repetitions. Trace + write adds a model to copy and blank lines for independent writing. Trace only keeps the focus on dotted names. Adapt the sheet to the learner; this tool does not prescribe a handwriting curriculum.
If something looks wrong
- Very long names: try a first name. The tool refuses to shrink lettering below its readability limit.
- Unsupported characters: this version supports Latin-script names when both fonts include the characters. It does not generate Chinese character practice.
- Missing download: check browser download permissions and the Downloads list, then try again.
- Incorrect print size: confirm paper size and disable automatic scaling.
